Good Morning!! It's been awhile since I've posted anything but will attempt to do better.
I saw this the other day and it reminded me about this blog:

For Christmas, St. Nick gave me an indoor greenhouse (I suppose in an attempt to keep all my little plants in ONE spot rather than having some in the laundry room, kitchen or my son's room). The greenhouse is about 3ftx6ft and currently stands in our breakfast area in the kitchen.
This is Day 1 (planted on 21 January 2015) - I planted seeds from Sunflowers (that I had harvested from a Giant Sunflower in our garden last year) Zinnias and Cosmos.

Below is a photo of the other seedlings tray after 7 days. In this one I planted Pansy, Forget Me Not and California Poppy.

So, my first thought when seeing the seeds germinate and push through the soil - was "when do I transplant them??" From my internet research - it appears when seeds first germinate they may LOOK like they have a true set of leaves, however, those first set of leaves are actually called "cotyledons" and their purpose is provide food to the seedling. The TRUE leaves, and hence, photosynthesis, do not emerge until after the cotyledons. Although, I may have to "thin" some of these seedlings, I cannot transplant them until they each have 3-4 TRUE leaves - once they do I will be moving them into small pots.
I'm excited for the garden this year!!
